I want to sew masks but I need materials. How can I get some?

We have some materials and mask kits available for you to sew if you would like.  We do ask that if you take materials from our supplies or through our group connections, that the supplies are used for the sole purpose of making masks for our group.  Masks are not be made for individual use, given to other individuals or charities, or put up for sale.

To get a mask kit:

Mask kits are available from Synergy Mill during our open hours. Upon arrival to Synergy Mill, text (843) 697-4558 to request a face mask kit or supplies.

Include in text:
(1) car make/model/color
(2) FB Name
(3) Type of mask kit requesting, # of masks
(4) If you are also returning finished face masks made from a previous kit, please text the finished kit number you are returning as well.

Example Text:
Request for Facemask Kit, Honda Odyssey/Brown, Staci Kathleen, Need 20 Curved Mask Pattern, Returning Kit #56

Mask kits are also available from our Pickens locations.  Text (864) 386-2282 to make arrangements for pick-up.

Kits will be brought to your vehicle. Please be patient while we work to bring your kits to your car.

Finished facemasks from kit materials must be returned before any further kits will be distributed.

Unable to pick up?

While we prefer you pick up kits/supplies, if you are unable to do so we still need you sewing and will get a mask kit to you! As above, we will be unable to give you a new mask kit if you already have one checked out, unless we are picking up finished masks at the same time.

Please fill out this form to request delivery of a mask kit:

https://forms.gle/yWVK7UjsCE2qwU4YA

If you are in need of other single materials such as elastic, bias tape etc., please contact an admin for arrangements to pick it up or have it dropped off.  We will do our best to assist – some may be directed to our spin-off group Sew. Some. Good. Greenville Materials Exchange Group for attempts to make trades/donations directly with other members.

If you are able to drop it off at Synergy Mill during our open hours, it would be most appreciated!  Please contact one of our admins to make arrangements. If you would like to drop off at our Pickens location, text (864) 386-2282 to make arrangements.

Small Scale Materials Donations/Request

If you have a small amount of materials, etc. to donate, please post in this spin-off group of our main group, Sew. Some. Good. Greenville Materials Exchange Group and attempt to make trades/donations directly with other members.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/3319998381385748/

We may be able to help if absolutely necessary with a volunteer to facilitate your exchanges among each other but please try your best first.  If you still need help, message us.

Where is your distribution center? What are your hours?

For information on our distribution center and our open days, please check this link:

https://sewsomegoodgvl.org/distribution-locations

I have completed masks to donate. Where should I take them?

How do I arrange to have my masks picked up from me?

If you are unable to drop off your finished masks to us, we will send a volunteer to pick them up from you.

Every Sunday  in the morning, a graphic will be posted in our FB groups and on our FB page asking for Mask Pick Up Requests with a link in the comments to fill out a form requesting pick up.

Requests must be entered by 5pm that day in order for us to pick up the following day. A minimum of 20 completed masks are required for pick up.

Requests may also be entered on other days but know they are generally collected and distributed to pick up volunteers only for Monday pickups.

Fill out mask pick up requests here:

https://forms.gle/NojdrSWB7mgnbybB9

You will be matched with a volunteer to pick them up the next Sunday or Wednesday depending which day falls next.

After you fill out the form, we will match a volunteer to your area to pick up your masks. Please seal them in a ziplock bag and have them labeled as if you were dropping them at our distribution center. Clearly label the outside of the bag with date, your Facebook name and mask count/type.

EXAMPLE: 3/29 Staci Kathleen 25/Pleated Masks
EXAMPLE: 3/29 Emily Malsam 10/Pocket–Adult, 10/Pocket–Child

Please make arrangements with the volunteer picking up your masks to try to minimize contact, and avoid anyone needing to come into your home. (Porch pickups are highly encouraged!) Maintain your social distancing (at least 6 feet) and please wash your hands after all interactions.

Can I just submit my masks directly to health care providers or first responders myself?

We ask that you do not submit your masks directly to health care providers or first responders yourself especially if you are using our supplied materials.  In order to keep supplies coming in, we often need to provide numbers of masks we are supplying to our donors – we are unable to do that if they do not come through our distribution center first!  We are working around the clock to keep up with distribution requests and promise your masks will go to those most in need.  In addition, masks that come through our distribution centers go through a quality check and infection control procedures in order to keep everyone as safe as possible.

If you are aware of a health care provider or first responder individual or group needing a mask, please refer them to this form:

https://forms.gle/qE2R6cdsVzUbmkBu7

If you do decide to distribute masks yourself, they MUST be represented as coming from you individually and not from the Sew. Some. Good. Greenville group.  Failure to comply with this may result in removal from the group and inability to secure future supplies from us.

I am a healthcare worker, first responder or essential worker, and I need a mask. How do I request

Please fill out this form.  We do our best to make sure we fulfill all requests as soon as possible.

Please contact Staci Kathleen Armocida with questions at

*Christine has vowed to sew and donate one mask for us for every 10 she sells!

What type of filters should be placed in the filter pocket?

The majority of our masks are being made with a filter pocket for insertion of a filter.  We recommend use of a layer of felt, 2 coffee filters, non-fiberglass A/C filter material (rated for virus and bacteria), non-woven polypropylene or surgical sterilization wrap.  We will provide filters with the masks when we have them available but they are intended to be provided by the recipient of the masks.
